Dare to dream Dare to fly Dare to be The ever chosen one To touch the sky

If it weren't for physics, and law enforcement, I'd be unstoppable
"Half the night I waste in sighs,
Half in dreams I sorrow after
The delight of early skies;
In a wakeful doze I sorrow
For the hand, the lips, the eyes,
For the meeting of the morrow,
The delight of happy laughter,
The delight of low replies."
-Alfred Lord Tennyson

I found a new poet I am rather fond of.  His name is Alfred Lord Tennyson.  He is spectacular.  Click his name for a website with his poetry, also a timeline of his life.  He was a fascinating person.  The above is an excerpt from his poem; Maud; A Monodrama.

You know, sometimes, looking at the 'Suggested Tags', I wonder where some of the tags that show up come from.  The ones that showed so far are: alfred lloyd tennyson, delight, asian delight, turkish delight.  Weird.  Nothing I wrote has anything to do with any of that.  Oh well.

There's a cat, that is almost looks exactly like my cat, that roams around outside.  He's from the barn next door.  Well, this cat has been going to the window whenever my cat's there, and attacking.  Well, he gets my cat howling instantly anyways, so she starts attacking the window as well.  I have to walk over to the window to scare the other cat away and calm my cat down.  Good thing she owns me, otherwise I'd have a lot of teeth and scratch marks from her.  That's one good thing about a cat owning you, they won't bite you when they hiss.  Or scratch you for the most part.  At least my cat doesn't.  When she's angry like that, I can put my hand near her while she's hissing and no she won't do anything.  But if someone else did, they'd instantly be bitten.

A while ago, I had a dream that I lived in this very dark city.  In the dream, I visited this place that had stairs that went both up and down, quite confusing and I kept finding money every step I went.  Then I reached the last stairwell and there was water, the entrance to the ocean.  The next thing I new, I was a mermaid swimming around, and doing as I pleased, as if I had been a mermaid my entire life.

So here's a little poem I wrote today about that dream.  It's slightly different, but dreams aren't exactly the most novelist visions one can see...

Mermaid of a Dream

Once I dreamt of a woman
With the tail of a fish,
That glittered sapphire blue
With just a small flick of her tail.

She had otherworldly beauty;
With hair the color of earth,
A deep, delicious brown,
And eyes, large and innocent,
With an appealing blue iris.

She was estranged, in a way,
As her favorite part of the vast ocean,
Was beneath the cliff of an possessed town.

Creatures like that of demons and ghouls
Witches and warlocks,
Humans and dragons, trolls and serpents,
Occupy the soul of the town.
With magnificent gothic architecture,
Great ornate designs revealing secrets,
And a dark aura that deceives the mortals,
A circus plays with no concept of time,
Controlling the feeble minds of the weak.

There was also a building,
Built so that the land dwellers
Could walk down into the ocean water.
Many land dwellers loved this building,
Especially one human woman,
Who was easily fascinated by the creatures
That depressed every other human.
She was considered the odd ball,
Of the human race,
Yet she was praised by the demon creatures,
Especially the lords and ladies that rules the planet.

She visited this nameless building,
Finding dollar bills on the white and golden
Marble stair cases that ran up and down the inside
Of the old building, all two colors; white and gold.

As she reached the last stair case,
The one that lead into the water,
She noticed groups of mermaids,
Swimming around beneath the ocean’s surface.
She noticed the other humans,
Staring into the water,
Talking amongst themselves.
Walking forward, she stepped into the water,
And in a blink of an eye,
She was being dragged in by strong hands,
And her legs formed into
A sparkling sapphire blue tail,
Like that of a fish,
That matched her sapphire blue eyes.

Swimming away from the humans,
Who were startled and surprised,
She followed the other mermaids,
Who showed her the souvenir shops.
Her eyes glowed as she swam in circles,
Taking in the overwhelming feeling of freedom.

From the research she had done,
She new that merfolk were attracted to shiny objects,
And this store was a cave of wonders.
With golden daggers to pure silver necklaces,
Rubies and diamonds,
Crystals and sapphires,
Emeralds and gemstones,
And so much more.

She swam away, into another place
With displays of Halloween knickknacks,
And candles and toys, and even books.
‘Tis strange to her, how Halloween items
Would be down beneath the ocean’s surface,
Yet she didn’t question what she saw.

And as she finished sightseeing,
She swam to the surface
And looked out at the haunting town.
It was a completely different view,
Than any she has ever seen,
Yet not as beautiful,
As it was beneath the ocean’s surface.

With it’s ebon buildings
Of great gothic architecture,
And gray clouds that reigned day and night,
She saw a ray of sunshine,
Piercing through the thick war-boding clouds.
